And a little more about Kyna...
Where do you live? Downtown-not the Glebe.
How old are you? The good side of thirty.
What kind of car do you drive? Toyota four runner.
What do you wish you drove? My old Volvo. It's boxy but quite good. And got slightly better mileage, was easier to park, and has the whole safety thing going for it.
Who, on the Sopranos, are you most like? Lorraine Braaco. She's so serious. And wears great shoes.
What's always in the fridge? Salad and a bottle of champagne - you never know when you'll need to celebrate.
What about the freezer? Peaches, for peach cobbler (I'm famous); raspberries, for banana bread; and milk, for lattes. Just in case people stop by.
Favorite food? When I'm not cooking. Always someone stopping by to eat at my house it seems.
Favorite beer? Stella.
Favorite wine? Devil's Lair. 1998. We got the keys to our house on Halloween a few years back. This was the bottle I picked up at Vintages to celebrate. Seemed appropriate, and it turns out, quite tasty.
Favorite city? Amsterdam in the fall. I just feel at home there.
Last vacation? Nova Scotia, Lunenburg. So nice. So close.
Next vacation? Dunno. Somewhere sunny.
Dream vacation? African safari. Five star.
Favorite spot in the world? My honeymoon.
Nickname? Buffy.
Why?? Fighting vampires, of course, is my hobby. It's also a good name for lunch in the Hamptons.
Favorite hotel in the world? The Petersham, in Richmond. It overlooks the Thames and the ingratiatingly Fawlty Towers Spanish staff is priceless. Also because they'll bring G&Ts all night and run for Marlboroughs if you ask.
Favorite restaurant in Ottawa? Domus.
Favorite restaurant outside of Ottawa? In a village on a little hill somewhere in Italy. Can't remember the name of it, but I could feel my way there again I think. The owner cooked pasta, fish, and meat and poured wine until we could barely make it back to the hotel. Fun times.
Spinning on your CD player? We don't have a CD player. IPod, Nomad, and large centralized music storage system. Why the speakers don't work is a mystery. We listen to TV music.
Hobbies? Equestrian dressage and jumping - its good to focus on something other than work. And really, when you get on the horse, you have to focus. Yoga with the girls and a trip to the pub afterwards is also nice.
